Requirements for Business License Contractors & Subcontractors
1. Complete Application below.
2. If you are a Corporation, LLC, or LLP, you will need to supply a copy of the first page of the Articles of Incorporation or Organization from the MIssouri Secretary of State or a Certificate stating you are in good standing with the Missouri Secretary of State.
3. If you are NOT a corporation, LLC, or LLP and the name of your business does not include the owner's first and last name in the name of the business, you will need to file Fictitious Name Registration with the Secretary of State's Office toll free at (866) 223-6535 or www.sos.mo.gov.
4. Contractors who have one (1) or more employees must provide a Certificate of Worker's Compensation.
5. Contractors who have a physical business location must complete a Certificate of Occupancy Form. This form must be approved by the City Inspector prior to licensing. The City Inspector reserves the right to inspect prior to the approval of the Certificate of Occupancy.
6. Fee: $25.00.
City Clerk reserves the right to review application prior to issuance of license.
APPLICATION FOR CONTRACTORS & SUBCONTRACTORS LICENSE
Your Occupational License will be due for renewal on March first of each year. Ten percent (10%) penalty is applied at the beginning of each month for licenses that have not been paid by April first. If at any time you chose not to obtain your business license or renew your license, you will need to contact the business license department at (660)886-2226.
All city taxes, including penalties and interest must be paid before obtaining and renewing licenses.

WORKER'S COMPENSATION COVERAGE Under state law, effective August 28, 1993, any city or county that issues Business Licenses must require a Certification of Insurance for Worker's Comp Coverage prior to issuance of a license. We ask that you comply by answering the questions below.
1. Are you subject to Worker's Comp?
2. Do you have one (1) or more employees??
3. If the answer to the questions is "YES" you need to provide a copy of your Worker's Comp Insurance with your application for Business License.
