DC Rape Crisis Center, Washington, DC
Director of Counseling Services (February 2004 – October 2005)
Managed adult, adolescent, child and crisis counseling programs. Created and monitored yearly operating plan and budget for the department. Conducted clinical and administrative supervision to department staff, graduate students and interns. Facilitated weekly departmental case conferences and theory discussions. Provided individual, group, couples and family therapy for adult survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse, and those affected by abuse. Assigned new clients to counselors; reviewed intakes and assessments done by other staff. Built linkages with city agencies, community organizations and groups to enhance Center services and outreach to people in need of the services. Conducted workshops and trainings for professionals and community organizations on sexual violence and related issues. Completed quarterly programmatic reports for government grants. Coordinated graduate student program. Respond to hotline and companion crisis calls and provide support and back-up to volunteers.
Coordinator of Adult Counseling Services (October 1999 – January 2004)
Managed adult counseling program to meet yearly program objectives. Supervised clinical staff, MSW students, and interns. Provided individual, group, couples and family therapy for adult survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse, and those affected by abuse. Established satellite office in Southeast DC and provided counseling there. Conducted initial client assessments and assigned clients. Responded to hotline and companion crisis calls and provided support and back-up to volunteers. Created and implemented workshops for survivors during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Designed, planned and implemented the Shadows of the Past educational workshops for mental health professionals working with survivors of sexual violence. Conducted workshops on counseling survivors of sexual violence and related presentations. Authored and secured funding for "Sexual Assault and the Older Woman" brochure and a chapter on counseling older survivors for a training manual. Provided outreach to older survivors through monthly presentations at senior centers.

IONA Senior Services, Washington, DC
Healthy Aging Programs Director (September 1996 - September 1997)
Planned, implemented, and promoted new health promotional, educational and personal growth programs for older adults in IONA's new comprehensive senior center. Supervised, coordinated, and managed the staff and programs for a weekend home-delivered meal program, five community-based lunch programs, and ten neighborhood activity sites. Created and implemented program policies, tracking methods, and marketing/evaluation plans. Developed annual program budget and assisted with annual grants and new funding proposals. Faculty member of the Washington Area Geriatric Education Center Consortium.
Community Education Coordinator (August 1991 - March 1993)
Coordinated Project C.A.R.E. (Community Action to Reach the Elderly), a community organization effort designed to reach isolated older people living in apartment buildings. Developed educational programs on aging issues for 29 churches and synagogues. Authored, edited and distributed quarterly newsletter, annual Resources guide, and newsletter for apartment building managers. Coordinated all community education, outreach and marketing materials.
Office on Aging, District of Columbia Government, Washington, DC
Public Information and Special Projects Officer (March 1993-May 1996)
Monitored services and budgets for six lead agencies providing services to 103,000 older
adults. Convened monthly Director's meetings to stimulate new programs and continual growth. Created public/private partnerships with local businesses to increase services. Provided presentations on aging issues; member of Mayor's Speakers Bureau. Created speeches and briefings for Mayor and Executive Director. Hosted "DC Today Seniors' Corner" weekly television segment on local cable television. Created and coordinated all media, marketing, and outreach materials for the agency.
Field Placements
St. Luke’s House, Life Skills Program, Bethesda MD (September 1994-May 1995): Completed psychosocial assessments and of dual-diagnosed adults with chronic mental illnesses such as depression, schizophrenia, and anxiety disorders. Provided individual counseling for a caseload of five adults. Worked with a multidisciplinary team to review independent living skills of clients. Lead groups for clients on important life skills tasks, facilitated weekly Friday evening “Social Nights” and took clients on outings on Sundays.
DC Rape Crisis Center, Counseling and Advocacy Department, Washington, DC (September 1995-May 1996): Provided individual, couples and group therapy to survivors of sexual violence ages 14 and older. Planned, promoted and implemented a month of activities for the community during April 1996 for National Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
