Larry Smyth
 
 

Larry Smyth, Ph.D., received his doctorate from Michigan State University in 1977. He is a clinical psychologist with the Veterans Administration Maryland Health Care System, and he is also in private practice in the Baltimore area where he specializes in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorders and other anxiety disorders. He has worked for the VA in a number of capacities to include Regional Manager, Associate Regional Manager, and Team Leader for the VA’s Vet Center Program as well as Director of the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team at the Perry Point VA Hospital. He served as a military police officer in Vietnam with the US Army. In addition to his clinical and administrative endeavors with the VA, he has been highly productive as an educator in the private sector, having been awarded the status of Approved Provider of Continuing Education by the American Psychological Association as well as having formed the RTR Company - a continuing professional education company devoted to the dissemination of training in evidence-based practices and empirically-supported treatments. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies. He has numerous publications and presentations in the trauma field.
