Professional Experience
1998-pres. Trauma Clinician and Trainer, Community Connections, Washington DC. Provide three day training in  Trauma Recovery and Empowerment (TREM), a group intervention.  Support fidelity through consultation; serve as liaison to a local training  partner in the federally funded multi-site Women and Violence study.  Provide services in helping organizations become trauma-informed

1994-2000 Clinical Coordinator for Housing, Community Connections, Washington DC. Coordinated training apartment program, and social activities; led weekly residential meetings in seven taught basic community living skills, and coordinated social activities.  Provided clinical and case management services for chronically mentally ill adult men and women.  Co-led groups for trauma survivors.

1991-1994 Dual Diagnosis Case Manager, Community Connections, Washington, D.C. Worked directly with a caseload of 15 homeless, dual diagnosis (mental illness and substance addictions) clients during a three year, federally funded demonstration project.  Responsible for assessment, stabilization, crisis intervention, counseling, referral and all relapse prevention work in both group and individual formats. 

1990-1991Psychotherapist  The D.C. Institute for Mental Health, Washington, D.C. Provided long-term psychotherapy to individuals, developing Individual Treatment Plans, gauging client progress, assessing the suicide risk of each client, maintaining client records via Medicaid logs, setting client fees and collecting them.  Psychotherapy issues have involved substance abuse, depression, schizophrenia, incest, and sexual dysfunction

1989-1990 Social Worker  U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home, Washington, D.C.  Completed social service comprehensive assessments on patients admitted to the acute care floor of the Home's health care facility, assisted patients with concrete services, co-led a 14 session group for seriously ill patients.)

1986-1989 Social Services Coordinator  Samaritan Inns, Washington, D.C.  Screen and select program participants, provided case management for nineteen clients, delivered task-oriented counseling.  Recruited, hired, and supervised resident managers, assisted in program development, and represented the organization at a local grassroots coalition to promote the rights of low-income people. 

1984-1986 Assistant Director  Father McKenna Center of St. Aloysius Church, 19 Eye St., N.W., Washington, D.C.  Daytime drop-in center for the homeless serving 50 clients per day.  Responsibilities included interviewing fifteen emergency assistance clients per month and making determinations on their cases, representing the Center at a local grassroots coalition, writing and editing the Center's quarterly newsletter, planning and producing brochure, staffing the winter night shelter, coordinating the food buying for the Center, and distributing two hundred Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.  (September 1984 - August 1986)
